Hi Everyone.
Welcome to the new Kirk’s Brew on line store. For eighteen years (since 1993) Kirk’s Brew has been exclusively a brick and mortar business. This new on line presence doesn’t mean that the brick and mortar are crumbling in any way. It’s simply a way for Kirk’s Brew to gain contact with more home brewers and wine makers across the country.
Having said that, I’m not here to compete with or challenge the “heavy hitters” who possess such a strong web presence. While they rely on volume for success, I rely on the local traffic that grace the inner walls of my store on Cornhusker Highway in Lincoln, Nebraska. While the square footage is somewhat limited and the product mix is not as vast as the heavy weights, Kirk’s Brew is famous, (at least locally) for helping the beginning brewer to become the intermediate brewer and so on. We’re all about getting you started off on the right foot.
That’s what I believe our new on line store can do for you. All too often a new brewer becomes confused, lost, wishing someone would take the time to point the way and answer questions. I really can help you to relax. At least Mike Wittmann, (that’s my web master) thought so. When we discussed this venture he felt strongly about the way I personalize my business and how that carried through to him. He said it really helped to make him comfortable, because a new brewer is always too concerned about too many things. He’s right you know. If someone can help you overcome your fears, you’ll brew and become a better brewer. Thanks Mike.
I’ve been home brewing since 1983. (Please don’t do the math.) Hopefully I can lend some personal experience. And let’s face it guys and gals, drawing from someone’s personal experience can be quite beneficial. Unlike some I’ve known, I’m more than willing to share this experience or knowledge. Knowledge is everything, but it means nothing if it isn’t shared. I have everything to gain by sharing.
Now that you’re ready to brew beer and make some wine, I have some important information to pass along to you. I’m offering flat rate shipping for $12.99. Of course you’re going to say, “Why not $7.99 or for free like the others do.” It’s like I said earlier, I’m not here to compete with those guys. Shipping anything these days is damn expensive. If you don’t believe me, head for your local UPS store and ship something. And don’t say I didn’t warn you.
It’s a heck of a deal boys and girls. Even at that rate, I’ll still lose some money on most shipments. So certain rules must apply. Anything weighing 50 pounds or more is not eligible for the $12.99 flat rate. As is anything made of glass. Emphasis on anything made of glass. Wine ingredients kits are also out. You ask, “Are you willing to ship these things if I pay the price?” Darn tootin’. That means, yes I will. The last catch to this wonderful super saver shipping rate, is that it applies only in the 48 continental United States. Sorry Alaska and Hawaii, but arrangements will have to be made.
Remember it’s customer service that makes Kirk’s Brew tick. No, I don’t have the best prices on everything. No, I don’t have everything. What I have is a space that has enabled me to promote home brewing for 18 years. I keep it stocked with fresh inventory. That enables the local brewers and vintners to reap the rewards of this self rewarding hobby. Now I have a location on the world wide web that offers the same.
So, check out the store, check out the blog and if you are ever in town, stop in and check out the real thing.
Cheers, Kirk

No part of this page may be copied or reproduced without the submission of a stout, a porter, a pilsner, a bock, a brown, a burton, a single, a double, a triple or a wee heavy. An additional submission of chardonnay, zinfandel or pinot noir wouldn’t hurt anything either.
